» Image versus Biology

The film & lecture program held in collaboration with the Documentary Monday series at Kino Světozor offers an innovative look at the relation between visual culture and natural sciences. Using a botanical film and scientific illustration as examples, it will show how our knowledge of nature relies on images, and explore the thin line between a work of art and scientific depiction. The program will include a screening of short films by Czech botanist and pioneer of science cinema Jan Calábek, and lectures by curator Pavlína Vogelová and illustrator Magdalena Chumchalová.

The program will take place at the Small Hall at Kino Světozor. Check our FB website for updates.
